Since opening its doors in 2011, this unique Farmstall on the outskirts of Hopefield has become somewhat of a landmark on the West Coast.

The Plaasmol Padstal (Farmstall) is filled to the brim with exciting colours, friendly faces, and a variety of activities for the whole family. This wonderful tongue-in-the-cheek eatery, farmstall, nursery, petting zoo, and pub, promotes a healthy, organic lifestyle and is passionate about recycling, upcycling, and caring for the environment as well as the local community.

We are situated 5km out of Hopefield on the R45 in the direction of Vredenburg/Langebaan. It is opposite Rainbow Chickens. The R45 is the main road from Malmesbury to Vredenburg. The farm is about 120km from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town. Other nearby towns include Velddrif, Langebaan, and Paternoster.

The family, who goes by the name “Span Plaasmol” – created a cheerful café and farmstall experience that captures the laid-back small-town atmosphere that Hopefield is justifiably famous for.

Besides purchasing fresh locally grown produce, homemade baked goods, and homemade crafts and jewelry, you can also sit down to enjoy a coffee and cake or milkshake in the garden or when it is cold – inside at our comfortable informal restaurant.

We are passionate about the environment, upcycling and recycling, so we are constantly trying to surprise and delight our visitors with the variety of upcycled products that benefit both the environment as well as support our local community.

The “Plaasmol Padstal” has been a local landmark for many years. This is a unique shopping experience you don’t want to miss! The shelves are packed to the brim with delicious and delightful finds and treats – all homemade!

The rustic shop stocks wholesome farm products and handmade crafts – everything from naturally grown vegetables and free-range eggs, to the best selection of locally sourced preserves, jams, and baked treats. Not to mention a lovely selection of wine. Situated only 5 km outside of Hopefield, on the R45, the Plaasmol Padstal invites you to sit back and enjoy the simple, tranquil pleasures of this unspoiled countryside.

Die Plaasmol Padstal Restaurant & Coffee Shop is a family-friendly restaurant and an ideal place to stop and enjoy a meal en route to the many attractions in and around Hopefield and other areas of the West Coast.

The Ladybug nursery is a small plant nursery, run by the Plaasmol family, right next to the farmstall and restaurant. We are an independent nursery that sells seasonal plants, and our friendly, helpful staff can provide visitors constructive help and advice.

We do not specialize in any plants at the nursery, as we try to have as broad a range on offer as we can, all sourced as locally as possible. Our plant selection includes ornamental and fruit trees, perennials, shrubs, roses, climbers, vegetable and salad seedlings, herbs, and seasonal bedding.

We are constantly adding new stock from several suppliers, but if there is anything that you might want that we have not got, we would be more than happy to try and source it for you! We also stock manure and compost in 30-liter bags.

For an experience that your children will remember for years to come, bring them to the Plaasmol Animal Farm to meet our range of farm animals and domestic animals alike!

Let your children have fun feeding the animals whilst you relax in our garden with a cuppa “Boeretroos”.

We provide a safe and fun-filled opportunity for your child to meet and touch the domesticated and farm animals as well as selling small bags of feed so that our little visitors can help feed the animals too

Watch the most exciting moments of your game pulse through our Big Screen and 199 HD TV. Our Route 45 Pub and venue regularly host live local music acts, themed parties, sports screenings, and karaoke evenings. Fully setup facility as performance & events venue.

We are fully licensed and offer Route 45 Lager & Tafelberger craft beer, spirits, and a selection of wine.

4×4 Tactics’ aim is to provide 4×4 owners with a practice area with obstacles that you will find on your 4×4 adventures. First-time adventurers may find some of the obstacles too daunting but we encourage all riders to go outside their comfort zone.

Our track is designed to be technical and challenging. Come and test your and your vehicle’s capability in a safe and controlled environment before you take on the rugged bushveld. Bring your 4×4 trailer or caravan and test your skills on our track. Exercise your reversing skills or just enjoy the obstacles.

Book a trainer for groups to lead and teach you through the track. Trainers provide critical leadership, tips, and tricks to further your skill. And once you’re done feel free to enjoy a family lunch or dinner at the restaurant or an ice-cold beer at the bar. Camping facilities are available for those that want to enjoy the night sky of the West Coast away from all the noise & lights of the city.
